During busy times, surprise FASTPASSES will be offered to Magic Kingdom Guests. Currently,
there are no kiosks specifically for Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress; they may only be obtained,
randomly, at other Magic Kingdom attractions kiosks.
A Cast Member explained to me that this was instituted to better manage crowds at the most
popular Magic Kingdom Attractions.
A rumor has been reported that, by offering surprise FASTPASSES, Magic Kingdom management
is trying to increase attendance numbers to save this attraction from closure (although, I doubt that
will ever happen).
Another rumor has been reported that MK management is trying to increase attendance to justify a
request for substantial funding to refurb. the attraction.
